Day 08 of 30 days: on ‘Our God is a consuming Fire’ – The fire on the altar.

Scripture:

And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the Lord; and He answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burnt offering (1 Chronicles 21:26).

Explanation:

In today Daily Meditation, day 8 of 30 days of the month of September we will study and meditate on the scriptures relating to our topic on ‘Our God is a consuming Fire’– The fire on the altar.

As we study and meditate on the use and the importance of the Fire of God, we cannot but mention the practice of Fire on the altar as the weapon most importantly engagement with the spiritual realities. Altar is a medium of spiritual communication however such offering was completed by Christ Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. May the Lord baptise you with the Fire of God and release the coals of fire to destroy every plan of the adversaries of our life. Glory be to God.

And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings (Leviticus 6:12).

Then he washed the entrails and the legs in water. And Moses burned the whole ram on the altar. It was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord, as the Lord had commanded Moses (Leviticus 8:21).

“Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it (Leviticus 6:9).

For our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29).
