And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed (Number 22:12).
Explanation:
Daily Meditation, day 26 of 31 days of the month of August, we will study and meditate on the scriptures relating to our topic ‘The Lord – The Healer’ – The Curses or the blessing.
In the scriptures we understand that the idea of curse or blessing is not originated from the New Testament, as over the years it has been a known occurrence that a man life can be a subject of the blessing or a curse. The story of Balak (the King of the Moabites) and his people were exceedingly afraid of the people of Israel and now invited Balaam (the prophet) and hired him to try to curse the people of Israel was a typical example.
Then God came to Balaam and said, “Who are these men with you?” So Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent to me, saying, 11 ‘Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. Come now, curse them for me; perhaps I shall be able to overpower them and drive them out.’ ”12 And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.” (Number 22:9-12).
The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching,[g] and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish (Deuteronomy 28:22).
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Galatians 3:13).
