Biblical meditation part 1 – What is meditation
by James
Scripture:
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success (Joshua 1:8, NKJV)
Explanation
Surely there is something peculiar about meditation. In the society today, majority of people talks about meditation. Even evidence is emerging that this is crucial for health and well being. So, if natural meditation profits little how much more Biblical meditation. However, biblical meditation is an instruction of the Lord. Meditation is mentioned in the Bible up to about 20 times. This began after the Lord had instructed Joshua to meditate on the available Words of the God at that time (The Torah). He was asked to meditate day and night on the first five books of the Hebrew scriptures. The benefits here are for prosperity and good success. Today we have 66 books in Christian Bible. We have access to more scriptures than Joshua.
The word ‘meditate’ also mean to ponder, consider, utter, speak or vocalise.

Confession:
The word of God is in my mouth and as I meditate it permeate to the deep part of my heart. I prosper in all my ways and have good success daily, monthly and all years to the Glory of God in the name of Jesus. No devil can steel the Words from my heart. From today I declare my victory and protection in the name of Jesus.
